Nvidia Opens Multilingual Transcription Model, Tops Leaderboards

Nvidia released Nemotron 3.5 Transcribe, an open-weight model for transcription, translation, speaker attribution, and audio question-answering across 40 languages. It currently ranks first on several transcription and speaker-ID leaderboards. A companion release, Granary v2, provides data pipelines so developers can fine-tune the model for specific vocabularies or industries.

Why it matters

๐Ÿ’ป Developer ยท Open weights plus fine-tuning pipelines (Granary v2) mean you can build custom transcription tools without relying on a paid API.

๐Ÿ“ฆ Product ยท A free, high-accuracy transcription engine for 40 languages could cut costs for any product with voice or meeting features.

๐ŸŽจ Design ยท Accurate speaker attribution and timing could improve how you design transcripts, captions, or multi-speaker UI.

๐Ÿ“ˆ Business ยท Open-weight transcription reduces per-minute API costs if you're running this in-house at scale.

๐Ÿค” Just Curious ยท Nvidia's new AI model can listen to audio in dozens of languages, figure out who's talking, and answer questions about what it heard, for free.
